WOW EVEN THE POWERFUL ALSO CRY? Oprah Just Got Real About Her 'Secret Son'
Oprah set the record straight about her so-called secret son in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Remember all those rumors about Oprah having a secret son? Well, the queen herself just sat down for an exclusive interview and spilled all the tea on that entire situation.
And just in case you're not up-to-date on your Oprah gossip: Oprah's "secret son," as the media has dubbed him, is not her biological or adopted son at all, but rather a man named Calvin Mitchell who met Oprah as boy. While she was filming the TV drama There Are No Children Here, Oprah took young Calvin under her wing, and even paid for him to attend private school later on in life, but the two fell out of touch after he dropped out of school as a teenager.
Well, Calvin has resurfaced, claiming that he's never had closure regarding his relationship with Oprah: "I want to ask Oprah, 'Why did you leave me? Why did you leave me?'
Oprah explained that when she first met Calvin as a boy, she felt compelled to help him, even going so far as to find a job for Calvin's mother, move him and his family out of the projects, and pay for Calvin to attend private school.
Calvin then began to get into trouble for skipping school, and was later expelled. Oprah gave him another chance, enrolling him in another private school.
"I found a school in Mississippi that was a private boarding school because I thought if I could remove him from the environment that he'd been accustomed to growing up in, that maybe that would be helpful to him," Oprah told ET. Calvin later confronted Oprah and told her that he couldn't stay at the new school because the teachers didn't like him.
"I said, 'Calvin, this is the moment. This is a seminal moment for you. I know you are 16 and can't see the road ahead, but if you leave this school and refuse to get an education - I have tried to offer you an education twice - there isn't another school I can put you in. If you leave this school, I am done. There is nothing else I can do.' And that was my last conversation with Calvin in the early '90s.
2015 American Music Awards: Red Carpet Arrivals
The "Good For You" singer SLAYED the red carpet in a sequined crimson halter dress. We've seen the front split before from the starlet, but the skeletal-esque side detail gave the sexy look an unexpected edge. And if you think the latter isn't much of a wow factor, wait until you see the back...
Tbh, we saw the dress before we saw the singer - and for a sec, we were almost sure this was Lady Gaga or Kesha. Gwen gets points for shocking us with this look and for making the wise decish to NOT do her signature red lip. Lordt knows that would've been overkill.
The "Fly Away" singer looks more like she swam to the AMAs in this jewel-toned octopus costume of a dress. We mean, we love the holiday and all but stop trying to make Halloween happen. We are so done.
If you thought you couldn't get any higher than Level Perfection, think again! The supermodel flaunted her ridiculously athletic bod in a sexy white crop-and-maxi combo. However, it's her newly bobbed hair that's causing maj envy. Girlfriend can pull off anything!
When your girl is Jennifer Lopez aka the host of the AMAs aka the winner of most outfit changes of the night, your red carpet look better be on point! Casper definitely brought his A game. Smart man.

Why One Model's Hair Made History at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
uick! What comes to mind when you think of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show? Our guess would be the vision of fit, curvaceous models strutting a glitzy stage in angel wings, million-dollar push-up bras, and bouncy blowouts. Well this year, one model switched things up a bit, rocking everything but the latter.
Angolan model Maria Borges paired her vibrant, multicolored wings and intricate bras with a cropped cut, embracing her naturally coarse hair texture. "I told my agent I wanted to walk in the Victoria’s Secret show with my natural hair,” Borges tells our sister site Essence. “I was nervous, but I had to do it. When they said ‘yes’ I didn’t expect it, but I was so happy!
And with her brave beauty chops, she made history. The 23-year-old model became the first to walk a runway that embodies bombshell beauty and sex appeal, in a mini afro. Alongside fine-haired models like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, Borges' 'fro represented for the curly girls (and short-haired gals!) everywhere. "At this moment precisely, I was looking up to God. I was thanking Him for making my third Victoria's Secret appearance a moment that would help women around the world to embrace their natural beauty," she writes in the caption of a photo of her most memorable moment from the show, which she posted on Instagram just moments ago. See it here.
Bravo to Borges for inspiring women to embrace their natural features and for encouraging a shift in the fashion industry's beauty standards in her very own (very special!) way. Encore!
